Thanks for stopping by. You would like to know ’Who is AusDancersOverseas’?
The driving forces behind AusDancersOverseas is Stephanie, a former dancer turned doctor/sports nutritionist. Stephanie used to travel a lot (before the pandemic) and got to see many of the schools and companies where Australian dancers train and work – and with that, where students from all over the world train. She has a unique insight into the challenges that (esp. young) dancers face these days, worldwide. This is why her expertise and her experiences are valuable for dancers and students, as well as parents, grandparents, schools and teachers all over the world. She offers various online courses as well as 1:1 work for dancers worldwide, and is often a guest on podcasts or other platforms. She has specialized in the treatment of low energy availability and relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S) and dance, and helps female dancers to recover from oligo-/amenorrhea (= recovering their periods) as well as recovering from eating disorders, in particular anorexia nervosa. In her free time, she is still an active researcher (find her latest research in the BMJ Open Sports and Exercise Medicine).
Stephanie is supported by Friederike, a psychotherapist specialized in the treatment of eating disorders, low self-esteem, self-confidence, and she helps those finding it hard to apply a healthy amount of self-care.
Taking care of yourself can seem complicated and overwhelming at times – especially with all the misinformation and pseudoscience available these days. While our social media accounts, Instagram and IGTV in particular, are one way to communicate with you, and to write about these challenges, this website and the especially the courses, offer a deeper and more thorough insight, as well as covering many more topics.
We’re incredibly proud of our network of colleagues that has grown continuously over the years, and it is one of the pillars to provide excellent healthcare for dancers of all genres, all over the world. Our qualifications allow us to treat dancers as holistically as possible, from general medicine to sports nutrition and psychotherapy. But every now and then we’ve got to send you to see a specialist – e.g. a gynecologist or a physiotherapist – and that’s when the network becomes an invaluable part of our work.
